A Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) is a legal document that allows you to appoint one or more trusted people — known as attorneys — to make decisions on your behalf if you become unable to do so yourself. There are two types of LPA: one covers property and financial affairs, and the other covers health and welfare. Creating an LPA ensures your wishes are respected and that someone you trust can manage your finances, healthcare, or personal matters should you lose mental capacity or simply prefer assistance in the future.
